MoneyMuseum is a private museum and foundation dedicated to the story of money, located on Hadlaubstrasse in Zürich. It’s the kind of place where you don’t just look at displays—you get a personal, guided walk-through, learn genuinely surprising facts, and even try hands-on experiences like coin striking.
Inside, expect a focused collection of coins and notes with an inviting, almost “hosted at someone’s passion project” vibe. Visitors often mention how informative the explanations are, and how the tour feels tailored—great if you’re traveling with kids or curious adults who like asking questions. The little touches matter too: there are free lockers and coat check, and the hospitality can include small refreshments, which keeps the whole visit relaxed rather than rushed.
WHAT: money-focused museum experience. WHERE: Wipkingen, Zürich. WHY VISIT: interactive learning plus a guided tour you’ll actually remember. PRICE RANGE: typically mid-range for a specialty museum—and you get a lot more attention than at bigger, crowded attractions.
Insider tip: Reserve online—there are only 46-ish reasons you’ll be glad you did, and one of them is skipping the wait and getting straight to the historic coins and banknotes. If you go, make time to strike a coin and take it home.

8 months agoWe visited the MoneyMuseum in Zurich last week and had a great time. First of all, I would like to note the friendliness and competence of the museum keeper Ursula Kohler. She made our tour full of useful information and incredibly interesting. It was an unforgettable attraction to learn about ancient and contemporary coins, and even made our own coin DIY. We came to the museum from Israel, and at home and at the enterprises where we work, we will highly recommend all our friends to visit this museum.
