Frau Gerolds Garten is a lively bar-and-eatery village built from containers, located on Geroldstrasse in Industriequartier, Zürich. It’s the kind of place where the details feel obsessively cared for—cozy corners, seasonal décor, and that “this is so cute” factor you’ll catch yourself saying on repeat.
Come for the atmosphere, stay for the comfort food. Their cheese fondue is the headline act: warm, rich, and properly Swiss, with plenty of bread—and if you’re smart, add the baby potatoes on the side for dipping. The menu keeps it local and refreshingly short, and even when it’s busy, things move along with friendly, efficient service.
WHAT/WHY/PRICE: Frau Gerolds Garten is a social spot for food and drinks with a festive, designed-to-linger setup. Expect mid-to-high Zurich pricing (it’s not cheap, but it earns it with the setting). With thousands of happy regulars behind it, it’s one of the safer bets for Zurich restaurant plans that won’t feel like a tourist tax.
Insider tip: Go around 6 pm for a calmer start outside, and book ahead—tables fill fast once the lights come on. If you want the full experience, order the fondue + potatoes and settle in.

in the last weekThey shouldn't accept reservations anymore if they're obviously already full. We got the tickets and after half an hour, no one had come to even take our drink order. The couple next to us waited over an hour for fondue. We ended up leaving and making fondue at home.

a week agoThe waiter was rude from the moment we arrived and only came to our table twice. One person in our group of three ordered a single cheese fondue, yet all three of us were charged for it. Since one fondue costs $30, we ended up paying triple the price for a dish only one person ordered. When we questioned the waiter, he claimed the menu states the price is per person, which is extremely misleading—especially since only one fondue was ordered. The service was unprofessional, and the pricing felt deceptive. I would recommend visiting anywhere else.

a week agoServer was very inattentive. Prices for the fondue were not specified on the menu as per person so we ended up spending $112 on one pot of fondue!!!!!!!!!
